JetSMART is a new Chilean airline founded by Indigo Partners (a private investment fund, also having investments in Wizz Air, Volaris and Frontier Airlines).
Our relationship with JetSMART started at the end of 2016 when DGITAL provided business and technology consultancy services for the establishment of the Chilean airline startup. The DGITAL development team started working on the website in spring 2017 and had an amazingly successful go-live in July - we developed a fully functional booking site from scratch in less then three months.
The list of online services available on the website has been getting longer ever since and DGITAL has a big part of their development plans for 2018 too.
Restaurants are great places for company dinners, but this year we wanted something different for the year end party. We have a nice and comfy kitchen, so we decided to party there. Given we are a company of carnivorous guys, to find a good butcher, order some sausages and a nice piece of ham was only natural.
We also had some wine and spirits, because we all know that good food + good drinks = perfect party. Add some upbeat music and everybody will be ready for fun.
The million dollar question: How many developers do you need to assemble a ham slicer?
That was all we wanted to share about this.
We like challenges, the bonding battle on the airsoft field in June was the best pastime of the year so far. A few new workfellows joined us in the meantime, so we decided to try out something else, something new, something more mental, something we can play in smaller groups.
For our exciting escape room experience we’ve chosen Locked Room. We played in 5 teams, in 5 different rooms - rooms with quite promising names: surgery, secret lab, motel and research station and we have no regrets. We'd write about the fun in great length, but don’t want to spoil the fun for you.
And the evening continued: after the game we went to have some beef and red wine: the proper and very satisfactory way to end the day.
Now we can finally reveal what made us busy this past few months: our South American client had a successful go-live.

Our developers worked very hard to make it happen, so they deserved both the celebration and some fun. Including prosecco.

BizSpark plus: a boost for startups
We are happy to be selected into the BizSpark Plus program from Microsoft. It not only offers software licenses for development (the basic BizSpark offering) but the impressive amount of Azure credits over a 2-year timespan. It enables us to lower operational costs – as we need to test our solution heavily, we can quickly deploy and throw away environments as required. We have the flexibility we couldn’t have achieved with on-premise servers.
... As we are constantly on the lookout for new opportunities, we were excited to receive an inquiry from overseas. The low-cost concept was unconventional before in South America although it was not completely unknown to this market.
Long story short: We just signed our second consultancy agreement with a Chilean startup airline for IT Setup as well as the implementation of corporate and booking website, mobile apps and core airline applications.
